What is chewable antacid used for?

This medication is used to treat the symptoms of too much stomach acid such as stomach upset, heartburn, and acid indigestion.

How do you take an antacid gel?

Take antacids about 1 hour after eating or when you have heartburn. If you are taking them for symptoms at night, DO NOT take them with food. Antacids cannot treat more serious problems, such as appendicitis, a stomach ulcer, gallstones, or bowel problems.

Can I drink water after antacid?

Can I take antacid daily?

While antacids can help alleviate heartburn symptoms, it’s usually only meant to be used on an as-needed (and not daily) basis. You’re more likely to take a combination of antacids and other medications to not only treat heartburn symptoms, but to prevent them in the first place.

During long-term use, aluminum has been shown to deposit in bone, joints, and the brain of patients who accumulate aluminum. Signs and symptoms of hypermagnesemia may include hypotension, nausea, vomiting, EKG changes, respiratory depression, loss of deep tendon reflex, dilated pupils, altered mental status, and coma.

What causes too much acid in your stomach?

There are several causes of high stomach acid. Examples include H. pylori infection, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and rebound effects from medication withdrawal. If left untreated, high stomach acid can lead to complications like ulcers or GERD.

How soon after eating should you take Gaviscon?

If you use antacids (such as Tums, Rolaids, Gaviscon) take these 30 minutes after meals and if needed, 3 hours after meals. Never take antacids at the same time as an H2-antagonist or Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) medication. When prescribed, these medications should be taken before meals.
