  2. Wait at least one minute, then reinsert any batteries and reconnect the power cable.

What makes a modem fast?

Generally, the higher the tier, the higher the performance and speed of the cable modem. For example, a mid-range DOCSIS 3.0 modem will offer download speeds of up to 340Mbps and upload speeds of 130Mbps. The number of channels on the modem will also give you an idea of how fast the modem is.

What modem should I buy?

Make sure the modem is at least DOCSIS 3.0 compatible. DOCSIS 3.1 modems are future-proof, but they cost more. Choose a modem that supports your internet download speed. Double-check that the modem you want works with your cable internet provider.
