Did you know you can have Lowe’s Home Improvement stores custom match a paint color? Any paint retailer likely can match a paint color for you. Luckily, I have a friend behind the paint counter at my local Lowe’s store.

How do I match an existing paint color?

Scrape off a 1 in (2.5 cm) sample of drywall paint with a razor knife.

  1. Place the sample in a plastic bag or an envelope so it doesn’t get smudged before you get to the paint store.

What part of Vin is paint code?

You won’t find the paint code for your vehicle coded in the vehicle identification number. To find the paint code, look on the vehicle certification label or the service parts identification sticker.
