Why is there oil in my cold air intake?
Why is there oil in my cold air intake?
It’s most likely oil that’s been pushed up by the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) hose. (Your motor doesn’t have a PCV valve, just the hose with a filter on it. It might also come from some combination of too much oil, extended high RPMs or aggressive cornering pushing oil into the intake.
Does air filter need oil?
Air filter oil – whether spray-on or out of a bottle – is designed to penetrate the foam cells and evaporate, leaving a sticky residue to trap foreign particles. The oil’s purpose is to prevent dirt and debris from passing through. Failing to use enough oil is counterproductive to the filter’s job.
Are Spectre air filters any good?
This filter works great! I immediately noticed a difference in response from my throttle. Keep note that this won’t gain you a lot of horsepower but the response from your engine will improve. My car used to bog down when I was in second gear in acceleration but since I installed the Spectre filter my car runs smooth.
Do Spectre air filters need to be oiled?
Spectre air filters are similar to K&N air filters. They do not need to replaced; they can be cleaned, re-oiled then re-used. Spectre recommends properly cleaning your filter once every 7,000 miles for best results, but the specific interval depends on the type of climate in which you you live.
Is Spectre better than K&N?
They have a point, considering that Spectre filters deliver similar results on a better price tag. K&N’s strong point is the increased air flow (high-flow design) and the fact that their filters are washable. The airflow increase, however, can turn into a drawback if you drive in areas especially high on fine dust.
Do performance air filters actually work?
Yes, the aftermarket performance air filters do work. But, don’t expect oodles of extra ponies to suddenly show up when mashing the throttle. Check the video above for more details.
Can I use K&N cleaner on Spectre filter?
you can use any kit like the K&N kit, most places the K&N kit is cheaper then the spectre kit is. then LIGHTLY oil it, dont soak it.
