What is so disturbing about hereditary?
Yes, there are many other disturbing scenes in Hereditary that are more typical of the horror genre — later in the movie, viewers realize that Charlie’s death is part of a demonic plan — but the car scene stands out because of how human it is. It feels like a shocking freak accident that could happen to anyone.
Is hereditary too disturbing?
More creepy, psychological horror than actually disturbing. One of Toni Collette’s best performances and well worth a watch. I found it to be one of the most disturbing films I’ve seen in a while. There’s definitely unsettling imagery but I just think overall it’s a very unpleasant movie.
