Sound is the term to describe what is heard when sound waves pass through a medium to the ear. All sounds are made by vibrations of molecules through which the sound travels. For instance, when a drum or a cymbal is struck, the object vibrates. These vibrations make air molecules move.

Sound sources can be divided into two types, natural and man-made. Examples of natural sources are: animals, wind, flowing streams, avalanches, and volcanoes. Examples of man-made sources are: airplanes, helicopters, road vehicles, trains, explosions, factories, and home appliances such as vacuum cleaners and fans.

To conclude, although it is uncertain how much genetics contributes to our voice, genetics definitely play a role at least in the structure of our larynx and vocal cords, as well as our sex. Yet, environmental differences seem to play a large role in how they’re defined too.

What is a dysphonia?
Spasmodic dysphonia is a voice disorder. It causes involuntary spasms in the muscles of the voice box or larynx. This causes the voice to break and have a tight, strained or strangled sound. Spasmodic dysphonia can cause problems ranging from trouble saying a word or two to being not able to talk at all.
Does dysphonia go away?
The changes in sound are usually due to disorders related to the vocal folds, which are the sound- producing parts of the voice box (larynx). There are many causes of hoarseness; fortunately, most are not serious and tend to go away in a short period of time.
Can dysphonia be cured?
There is currently no cure for spasmodic dysphonia, but treatment can help reduce its symptoms. The most common treatment is the injection of very small amounts of botulinum toxin directly into the affected muscles of the larynx.
