When using AirStone as a backsplash, or an outdoor kitchen, we do recommend applying a sealer. Like natural stone, it will absorb grease and food splatters without protection. Use a high-quality brand for concrete, masonry, or porous stone.
How long does AirStone take to dry?
Don’t let it sit for more than 30 minutes or it will begin to dry. Allow at least six, and up to 48 hours, of drying time. Once you’ve placed all of the AirStone on the wall, let the adhesive sit untouched. The material of the wall and the room temperature can affect drying time.

To avoid getting whitewash on our carpet, I dry-fitted the Airstone to the bottom of the hearth first. Then, I swiped on the whitewash with a paint brush. Let it set in for a minute or two since the stone will absorb quite a bit.

You basically put the pump on the floor or on a shelf behind the tank, cut the air line to the length you need, and stick the airstone on the other end. Place the airstone where you want it in the tank and secure the air line with a rock or something to keep it from moving around.
