Can solutions be Coloured?

Copper(II) ions in solution absorb light in the red region of the spectrum. The light which passes through the solution and out the other side will have all the colours in it except for the red. You can, however, sometimes get some estimate of the colour you would see using the idea of complementary colours.

Do darker colors absorb more light?

Dark colors absorb a lot more heat than lighter ones because they absorb more light energy. In fact, the closer to black a color is, the more heat it absorbs from light sources. Since dark clothes reflect little solar light, they reflect little solar heat and are hotter as a result.
