1 Answer. Nitric acid (even concentrated) is essentially an aqeuous solution. Effectively, silver halides will not dissolve in water (they have incredibly low Ksp), so the reaction indicated is moot…. there is no appreciable concentration of bromide in solution to be oxidized.
