How do you prepare and standardize 0.1 N HCL?
How do you prepare and standardize 0.1 N HCL?
Preparation and Standardization of 0.1 M Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
- Take about 100 ml of water in a cleaned and dried 1000 ml volumetric flask.
- Add about 8.5 ml of Conc.
- Add more about 700 ml of water, mix and allow to cool to room temperature.
- Make up the volume 1000 ml with water.
- Keep the solution for at least one hour and then carry out the standardization.
What is the normality of HCL?
Dilutions to Make a 1 Molar Solution
Concentrated Reagents | Density | Normality (N) |
---|---|---|
Ammonia 25% | 0.910 | 13.4 |
Hydrochloric acid 36% | 1.18 | 11.65 |
Hydrochloric acid 32% | 1.16 | 10.2 |
Hydrofluoric acid 40% | 1.13 | 22.6 |
What is N factor in normality?
For bases, n-factor is defined as the number of OH– ions replaced by 1 mole of base in a reaction. Note that n-factor is not equal to its acidity i.e. the number of moles of replaceable OH– ions present in 1 mole of base.
What is n factor of HCl?
The reaction involves 14 moles of HCl. Thus, we can say that 14 moles of HCl lose 6electrons. So, 1mole of HCl loses 614electrons. Thus, the n factor of HCl is 37.
Why do we need normality factor?
Answer: The importance of calculating the normality of the solution used in titration is so you’ll be able to solve the pH equation of exactly which point the combined solution goes through the visible change as a result of the titration.
What is n factor of CuSO4?
5. The change in oxidation state is 2. Thus, the n-factor for CuSO4 is 2. Thus, the equivalent mass of CuSO4 in the electrolysis of CuSO4 solution is 124.
Is Aluminium chloride a reducing agent?
The stable oxidation state of Sn is +4. Thus, it can easily lose an electron to reach a stable form. Hence, it is the best reducing agent and commonly used.
Why is AlCl3 soluble in water?
AlCl3 is hygroscopic and has a noticeable affinity for water. Hence, aluminium chloride dissolves in water partially.
Is AlCl3 ionic or covalent?
Alcl3 is a covalent compound and not ionic compound. Because the Al atom has higher polarizing power which attracts the cl electron easily and causes electron sharing.
