What is a Venlay?

A VENLAY® is a handmade and custom-designed porcelain restoration made for each tooth on either your upper or lower dental arch or both. It is bonded over healthy enamel without the need for drilling down teeth.

How do you fix misaligned jaw?

You can treat TMJ by doing the following:

  1. Apply ice to your jaw to reduce pain and inflammation.
  2. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil).
  3. Avoid strenuous jaw movements.
  4. Wear an orthopedic dental appliance to raise your bite and reposition the jaw.

Do jaw exercises really work?

These exercises can do more than give your face a more defined or a younger look—they can also prevent pain in the neck, head, and jaw. Studies have shown that jawline exercises may help reduce the effects of temporomandibular disorders, or chronic pain in the jaw muscles, bones, and nerves.

Can TMJ affect your eyes?

TMJ patient may also suffer with photophobia, or light sensitivity. A dislocated TMJ may produce pain in and behind the eye which can cause sensitivity to light. Blurred vision and eye muscle twitching are also common in TMJ patients. A final common symptom is ringing (termed tinnitus) in the ears.

Can TMJ affect your sinuses?

TMJ issues sometimes manifest as pain in the face, neck, or shoulders. Some sufferers have chronic sinus pain with no signs of infection. Others have episodes of eye pain and pressure, unexplained tooth sensitivity, or mysterious neck and shoulder pain or stiffness.

Can TMJ cause anxiety attacks?

Because TMJ has such a wide variety of symptoms, even some that seem unrelated (link to Lesser Known Symptoms blog), TMJ can both cause anxiety and be caused by anxiety. There are some symptoms of TMJ, especially dizziness, tinnitus and headaches, that can be triggers for anxiety.

Can TMJ cause eye inflammation?

The bad bite affects the muscles and the TMJ (TMJoints) which triggers the trigeminal nerve causing referred pain that eventually makes your eyes hurt. The swelling around the eyes and dark circles under the eyes are actually secondary results of unhealthy muscles blocking normal drainage creating venous back-ups.

What do TMJ headaches feel like?

The typical headache that occurs with TMJ is a tight, dull aching headache. It is most commonly on one side, but can be on both. Normally, it is worse on the side where the TMJ is worse. The headache is aggravated by jaw movement and relieves with jaw relaxation.
