What is a CV when applying for a job?

A CV, which stands for curriculum vitae, is a document used when applying for jobs. It allows you to summarise your education, skills and experience enabling you to successfully sell your abilities to potential employers.

How is CV different from resume?

The difference between a CV and a resume lies in the length, layout, and purpose of these documents. CVs have no length limit; resumes are typically one to two pages long. A CV details the whole course of the candidate’s academic career; a resume summarizes skills and work experience.

How long is too long for a CV?

Even if your CV is full of qualifications, important skills and enviable job experience, it’s important to keep it brief. CVs should stick to a maximum of two A4 pages (unless you are an academic job seeker), mainly because recruiters are busy and likely to skim-read.

Is it OK to have a 3 page CV?
