We use "Pop" in general for coke, pepsi or any type of similar drinks, however "Soda is used for a more sophisticated carbonated flavored or not type of water. Growing up I called it Pop, until I went to college in Rhode Island and then started calling it soda. pop is a sound, not a drink. soda is the correct option!
