Cotton tees are popular with just about everyone so it’s a safe bet. Go with 100% polyester if you want shirts that are lightweight, durable, silky smooth, and resistant to wrinkles, shrinking or fading, plus allow moisture to evaporates quickly.

Do polyester shirts run small?

Polyester runs true to size as it doesn’t naturally shrink. You can use a brand’s sizing guide to find the perfect fit. It is always recommended to buy items such as undershirts true to size, not loose, since these are going to be worn underneath shirts and you want them to fit close to your body without any wrinkles.

Does polyester stretch out over time?

Yes, you can stretch out polyester material. Try using warm water and hair conditioner. Wait about 30 minutes then take out the material and wring out the water. Then, pull and stretch the polyester until it’s stretched out how you want it.

Does cotton and polyester shrink in the dryer?

Moisture plus the dryer’s heat will shrink an 80/20 cotton/polyester blend. While fabric and batting blends made from cotton and polyester do not shrink as much as pure cotton fabric, you can shrink them. Expect the 80 percent cotton and 20 percent polyester fabric or batting to shrink about 3 percent.

How do you shrink polyester and spandex?

Wash the garment in hot water by setting the washing machine to the hottest level and long wash cycle. Use both the hot wash and rinse to capitalize on hot waters ability to shrink polyester faster than cold water. You only need to add detergents into the washing machine the same way you would wash the garment.

Cotton. While cotton clothes are common, you’ll have to be careful when it comes to drying, as 100% cotton clothes may shrink if put in the dryer, although most cotton blends should be able to survive the drying cycle shrink free.
