How do you get the star through the jet stream in Super Mario 64 DS?

The Power Star is found at the bottom of a jet stream, which is located at the bottom of the bay. The stream is covered by a grate, which lets the pressure pass through but prevents the player from entering. In Super Mario 64, Mario can obtain the Power Star only if he becomes Metal Mario.
