You've MORE rights buying online (or by telephone/catalogue) due to the Consumer Contracts Regulations. These give a legal right of 14 days to cancel the order after receiving it, and a further 14 days to send most goods back for a full refund (including outward delivery costs), even if there's no fault.
Can I cancel an online order through my bank?
You may be able to request a refund or order cancellation online through that service if you don't have luck contacting the merchant directly. Monitor your bank balance as well as any emails you receive from the payment processor or merchant since your refund could be posted immediately.
Can a company refuse to cancel an order?
More and and more sellers are doing the 'no cancellations' route. It's perfectly fine as long as they have that in their processing terms and conditions. It all depends on what you ordered, and from whom. Most companies don't allow canceling once an order has shipped.
