In my personal experience, I could skate comfortably forwards and backwards within a month of skating 1–2 times per week. I would say that regardless of any natural ability, if you are dedicated to learning and skate relatively often, you will likely be able to skate around the rink easily in about two months at most.
What age can you start ice skating?
Although most children do not express an interest in ice skating until they are at least three years old, any child who can walk can technically learn to skate. If your child wants to begin learning, be sure to work carefully with them, teaching them both the technique and safety involved in ice skating.
