How long does homemade soap last?
Although handmade soaps usually get better with age, we recommend using our soaps within 12 months of purchase. Our scented soaps should be used within 3 months after removing them from the box.
Does bar soap last longer?
Soaps made out of harder fats and oils will last longer than those made out of softer, liquid oils. Let the soap cure. Unwrap the bar of soap and allow it to sit out in the open air for 6-8 weeks.
How do you preserve homemade soap?
Once you have your soaps on the shelf, lightly place a sheet over them to keep dust and dirt out. In four weeks gather up your soaps, place them loosely into a cardboard box or plastic container and store them in a closet or cabinet. To preserve the fragrance integrity, I only put one scent per box.
How do you keep homemade soap from melting?
Cover your soap in a plastic wrap and apply heat from a heat gun or a drier. This will prevent your soap from sweating. Avoid overheating your soaps as this can cause them to melt. Here is a great video on how to shrink wrap your Melt and Pour soaps.
