Can I study without taking notes?
If you're not taking notes, don't try to do everything in one go. Place in into chunks and take one step at a time. If possible, schedule in advance so you know what your focus is for each study session. The more organised and focused you are, the less likely you'll need to make notes anyway.
How can I read a book without taking notes?
You can use your textbook by highlighting the important stuff. You must use a pencil/pen, because doing so helps your brain remember better. Once you've underlined/highlighted the most important facts, write them down on a paper (or type them on a computer, if you're that kind of person).
Should I make notes or just read?
You learn things by doing them, not reading about them. Taking notes is a proxy for doing things, and it is probably a very efficient one for most people, but if you find it boring, then don't do it. Read the material before the lesson/lecture. Twice if possible, once when you get the text and once just before.
Is reading notes a good way to study?
Simply reading and re-reading texts or notes is not actively engaging in the material. It is simply re-reading your notes. Only 'doing' the readings for class is not studying. Think of reading as an important part of pre-studying, but learning information requires actively engaging in the material (Edwards, 2014).
