the HorribleSubs group was formed to piss off CrunchyRoll from being a pirated streaming site to a legal streaming site afaik. and HorribleSubs are not fansub groups that they do subtitles of their own, they are actually just webrippers that gets all their releases from legal streaming sites like CrunchyRoll.
Why is Horriblesub bad?
Because they use robots to download and post, they have next to no filter on what gets included in their releases, resulting in bad video quality or strange translations at the hands of CR’s translators. Fansubbers may fix these issues, translate better and include karaoke, OP/ED and sign translations.
